In the kind of news that would never happen to me if I owned him, John Lackey returned and was terrific last night for the Angels. Congratulations to anyone who took him late in their drafts.
It is hard to say someone with a 2.91 ERA and 1.16 WHIP is struggling, but Jake Peavy hasn’t been as dominant as usual lately. Yesterday he lasted just four innings in a loss to the Cubs. Peavy has now given up three or more runs in three of his last five starts.
Speaking of the Cubs, they have moved into first place in the NL Central. Geovany Soto and Kosuke Fukudome have been revelations, Carlos Marmol is the league’s best set-up man and Kerry Wood, who I have, still can’t ever get a save.
In Boston Clay Buchholz is now on the DL with a torn fingernail on his pitching hand. Headline writers with a sick sense of humor are rejoicing at the possible return of Bartolo Colon to the Sox rotation.
Rotowhine is always looking for rare, interesting and confounding stories from around the ‘net. Can anyone email me and let me know what it is like to have someone on your roto baseball team get two hits in one game? Call if morbid curiosity. Thanks.
