Lester’s no-no brings the tears

It’s tough for even the most cynical sports observer such as, say, myself, not to get a little choked up at Jon Lester’s no-hitter last night. The crying continued when I realized the first-place team in my league has him, and even picked him up a few weeks ago when he was dropped by someone else.

Fantasy owners have to hope that the DL trip for Jake Peavy and his “violent” delivery can not only be overcome in the short term, but that Peavy will indeed come back strong this season. At least I can rest easy knowing that I enjoyed Peavy’s season last year when he was healthy. Oh wait, I can’t. I traded him mid-season and he was even more dominant on someone else’s team.

A-Rod is back tonight. Maybe he can get the Yankees out of last place. I just wanted to write that last sentence.

It was brought to my attention that I was remiss in not linking to Greg Fox’s article previewing National League Starting Pitchers in which he referred to Peavy’s violent delivery. Sorry, but I just don’t read the guy.
