Hitting bottom

Thoughts while wondering why my team hits .180 every night…

David Ortiz could be back in three weeks from his partially torn tendon, which is news to the ears of his owners who feared he might have had to shut it down for a lot longer. You aren’t out of the woods yet, but this looks like a temporary setback.

Joba Chamberlain made his much-ballyhooed start for the Yankees last night and wasn’t even close to whelming. One night after Kyle Farnsworth blew it in the eighth inning, it is safe to say this is not going well all around.

Joe Saunders has nine wins, and even more incredible: I picked him up early in the year. Of course, every action has to have an unequal and way, way worse reaction, so the rest of my team is stunningly, pathetically awful.

It is probably time to start thinking about the 2008 NFL season. Should Rotowhine bite the bullet and actually write a serious preview, unlike last year? Let us know what you think we should do, but give us a little space. Early June is no time to be discussing backup running backs doing well in mini-camp, especially if you are trying to pick up a woman. Stay tuned.
